Dear Church,

It is evident that our world needs God's redeeming, renewing, transforming work.  As believers, we are called to intercede and seek God's will to be done "on earth as it is in heaven".  Every Monday night, a prayer group meets and intercedes on behalf of the church and the needs around us.  In many of our other small groups we take time to pray together and seek the Lord’s help and direction.  My hope is that we will continue to grow into a church where time spent in prayer is behind every ministry, activity, and meeting.  That we continually raise people up, the known and the unknown, to God in prayer.  May it be that this church is built on “A Legacy of Prayer”.

Sometimes prayer can feel unproductive to us and so we may be tempted to neglect the opportunities for prayer choosing instead to keep ourselves busy with life or rest.  The irony is that we are neglecting the Source of true life and rest, who invites us to continually remain in Him as he remains in us.

The Legacy Church that we all hope for – one that is unified, generous, gracious, compassionate, full of truth; where people discover hope and healing, mercy and love – will not be produced by any means except by the Spirit of God.

WE BELIEVE THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS, CLEANSES, FILLS, AND EMPOWERS US AS THE GRACE OF GOD TRANSFORMS US DAY BY DAY INTO A PEOPLE OF LOVE, SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE, ETHICAL AND MORAL PURITY, COMPASSION, AND JUSTICE. IT IS THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT RESTORES US IN THE IMAGE OF GOD AND PRODUCES IN US THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST. (excerpt from Nazarene Essentials)

This life in the Spirit requires our continual attention on a personal level and corporately as the body of believers. There are many things which nurture this life including personal devotions, corporate worship, receiving Communion, and serving others.  But prayer also plays an important role in creating time and space which brings you into a place of rest in the shadow of the Almighty and in a posture of listening to the Lord’s voice.

I would invite us to a renewed commitment to prayer.  There are resources on our website and church app that can assist you if needed.  In particular, I would invite our church family to commit to praying for Legacy Church everyday.  Together we can make this happen.  Below, you will have the option to select a day that you will commit to each week to pray specifically for the vision and mission of Legacy Church - that we will be effective in making Christlike disciples.

Thank you for considering how you will help build us into a Legacy of Prayer!

May God's grace sustain you,
Pastor Aaron
