On Christian Maturity
“This is why he warned people to ‘count the cost’ before becoming Christians.  ‘Make no mistake,’ He says, ‘if you let me, I will make you perfect.  The moment you put yourself in My hands, that is what you are in for.  Nothing less, or other, than that.  You will have free will, and if you choose, you can push me away.  But if you do not push me away, understand that I am going to see this job through…. I will never rest, nor let you rest, until you are literally perfect – until my Father can say without reservation that he is well pleased with you, as he said He is well pleased with me.  This I can do and will do.  But I will not do anything less.’
And yet – this is the other and equally important side of it – this Helper who will, in the long run, be satisfied with nothing less than absolute perfection, will also be delighted with the first feeble, stumbling effort you make tomorrow to do the simplest duty.  As a great Christian writer (George MacDonald) pointed out, every father is well pleased at the baby’s first attempt to walk; no father would be satisfied with anything less than a firm, free, manly walk in a grown-up son.  In the same way, he said, ‘God is easy to please, but hard to satisfy.’”

C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

The Journey
The journey does not need to be dreadful…but rather something that opens our eyes up to true beauty as we walk with Christ – led by him.
“…you will learn what is beautiful and who you are and what is your special quest in life and [where] you should go.  You relax in the presence of the great healer and teacher…. You live on manna [graciously given] to you daily, miraculously.  You stretch your arms for hidden gifts, you yearn toward the moonbeams and the stars, you listen with new ears to bird’s song and the murmurs of trees and streams.  If ever you were proud or quarrelsome or restless, the inflammation goes down, fanned by the coolness of simplicity.  From day to day you keep your log, your day-book of the soul, and you may think at first that it is a mere record of travel and of facts; but something else will be entering into it, poetry, the new poetry of your life, and it will be evident to a seeing eye that you are gradually becoming an artist in life, you are learning the gentle art of tramping, and it is giving you an artist’s joy in creation.”
-    Stephen Graham, The Gentle Art of Tramping

There is no better way to learn about prayer than by praying....  It is good to debate the mysteries of prayer, to ponder the profundities of prayer, to learn the methods of prayer.  It is better to pray.

- Richard J. Foster

Monday Night Prayer

An opportunity for you to join others in prayer & encouragement

Monday Night Prayer Meeting
7:00PM at Legacy Church
9012 160th Street, Surrey, BC
This, then, is how you should pray...

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.
