Pray for Illumination - Heavenly Father, help me to know your ways; teach me your paths and lead me into your truth. Amen.
Read Psalm 3
But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. Psalms 3:3, 5
There are many things that can keep me awake at night. I know my snoring certainly can keep my wife awake at night, as she reminded me when she this morning. But worry and fear can keep our minds running all night, leaving only enough energy in the morning for a slow crawl through the day!
Faith in God gives our hearts and minds permission to lie down and sleep even though we could easily let our circumstances overwhelm us. Faith is not simply a way to distract our thoughts or find safety hiding under a blanket. Rather faith gives us the ability to see reality as it truly is, where God is the one truly in control, despite what our circumstances might suggest.
Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. Psalms 3:2-3
What fear or worry has kept you awake at night? Bring it to God and ask him to help you see what he wants you to see through it all. Ask him to fill your heart with faith that finds a resting place in Christ as Victorious King.
From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. Psalms 3:8
